Zeyrek Çinili Hamam is a double bath, with one section originally designated for men and the other for women, each with a unique design. Restorers have uncovered fragments of intricate Iznik tiles and hidden Byzantine cisterns, dating back to the 5th century AD.
Modern rituals in a traditional setting.
The Original is a modern interpretation of the centuries-old hammam ritual. Beginning with warm marble therapy, guests relax on the central stone (known as göbektaşı), under a starry dome.
Hammam therapists then care for each guest individually, scrubbing the skin, before a foam massage and hair-washing ritual using local natural products.

My husband and I were picked up by their shuttle at our hotel and brought to Cinili Hamam. We chose our treatments (The Original for him, the Flow for me) and were brought to the men’s and women’s separate rooms. I was greeted warmly by Songul at reception and had a chance to sit down and relax in the first room. I was provided with a disposable bikini (top and bottom), rubber flip flops in my size, a large sarong-style wrap, and given a locker to store my clothes and purse, which was easy to lock with a 4-digit code. On to the main event! The hammam room was absolutely beautiful. A large marble platform in the middle and many faucets and marble basins around the sides of the room. My therapist, Kubra, seated me next to a basin. My bad knees mean it’s hard for me to sit in a low position so she brought me a bamboo chair which was very comfortable. The room was hot, designed to encourage sweating. The basin was filled with warm water and had a bowl in it which she used to rinse me off. Then she left me to sit for perhaps 15-20 minutes to relax, be warm, and continue to pour the warm water over myself. This was while wearing the bikini, as the wrap was laid on the main table. When she returned she scrubbed me thoroughly with a loofah mitt, removing dead skin. I gave permission to remove the bikini top. I am on the prudish side and not typically one for nudity in front of others but somehow it was not weird and I went with the flow. She also washed and conditioned my hair. Then it was time for the “foam massage” laying on the table. I had been worried that I wouldn’t be comfortable laying on a thin cloth on the marble but I was wrong. It was heated, I was warm, and it felt fine! A rolled up towel was used as a small pillow and footrest. The foam was basically a very bubbly soap and I enjoyed 30 minutes of body massage by Kubra. At the end she rinsed and dried me and it was time to relax with a beverage in the entrance room again. Attendants Aleyna and Damla did a great job taking care of me there. I loved every minute of this unique experience and am so glad I decided to spend the money. My husband also really enjoyed his treatment. While not cheap, this location was less expensive than the bathhouse near Hagia Sophia and it felt like I was having a local treat. This hamam dates back over 500 years and has been lovingly restored - the curation of the space which also has a museum and exhibition space is beyond perfect. First our experience of the hamam.. Booking was really easy online and you can see the times that are available. Unlike other hamams the booking process is simple and modern. I can’t tell you just how nice every single member of staff was - always met with the kindest smiles the level of service was superb. The space is insanely beautiful and calm we had the whole space to ourselves. Absolutely loved the hamam treatment - relaxation on the hot marble slabs, exfoliating and then an incredible warm soapy massage. Honestly I didn’t think someone else washing you from head to toe would feel so special. The amenities afterwards were a lovely touch and even had my hair blow dried by one of the staff. Such a relaxing and wonderful experience. What topped it off was the hamam museum and art gallery in the cistern. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the space as well as the restoration project and to learn about the history of hamam culture in general which makes you really appreciate the overall experience and the level of detail and service that goes into your visit. Kadir greeted us from the beginning to the end of our experience. He is extremely knowledge about hammams and the history of Turkey. He made our experience more enjoyable with a tour of the Hammam Museum + visit to the Zeyrek Mosque post treatment. He is passionate about Turkey's culture and loves what he does. He is a great storyteller and his energy was contagious. Istek was with me during the entire hammam treatment from start to finish. She was matronly and treated me kindly. The second time I went with the DIY hamam, which was less than half the price, since I knew I just wanted to relax on the giant heated stone and I could wash myself (they give you everything you need).
