Full description
The Turkish bath is a centuries-old wellness ritual, a journey of physical purification and spiritual renewal.
Hızırbey Hamamı is Istanbul’s first public bath, built in 1458 by Hızır Bey, the first judge of the city after the conquest. Today, it stands as a living testament to Ottoman architecture, blending historic elegance with modern comfort.
As you enter, leave behind the chaos of the city and follow the same ritual practised here over 560 years ago.
Wrap yourself in a traditional peştemal, step into the warmth of the steam room, and let the heat gently open your pores.
Guests who cannot stay in hot areas for long can choose the minimum duration bath ritual. Inside, the temperature can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius under the central dome of the building.
The combined intense heat and humidity encourage the pores to open and impurities to be extracted from the body.
Following this, your skin will be gently exfoliated with a Turkish scrub, and you will receive a soothing soap massage.
Finally, after resting, you can enjoy Turkish tea, before being taken back to your hotel feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed.
